Crilly This is Crilly. She is a mature girl who was found on Clogherhead beach on February 25th 2008. She is approx. 9-10 years old and was absolutely exhausted when found. She slept for two whole days, just waking up long enough to eat, do her business and then go straight back to sleep! After her big rest, she was ready for a normal routine and loves her walks and loves company. Crilly (named after the person who found her) was not wearing a collar and is not microchipped. She knows lots of commands and little tricks, so was obviously loved and well cared for by someone in the past. An ideal home for Crilly would have a nice, secure garden and an owner to give her the lifestyle, love and attention she so richly deserves. Crilly would make a great pet for someone who can appreciate the companionship and steady presence offered by a mature dog. Wolf Wolf is a male German Shepherd and he is 2 years old. He was surrendered into the care of DAR due to a tragic change in family circumstances. Wolf is a very handsome, blonde German Shepherd and he is fully vaccinated and neutered. He is a big, strong dog and needs a new owner with some big dog experience. Snoopy Snoopy is a very cute little Terrier. He has been surrendered along with 3 other dogs, due to a tragic change in family circumstances. Ben & Sam (Ben pictured) I am moving house shortly and have to be out of my current home by the 1st June 2008 and reluctantly need to find a new home home for my two dogs (both male) Sam and Ben. Sam is 9 years old Border Collie and I have had him since just after birth. He is great with children and prefers the outdoors. Belle Belle is such a lovely dog very quite and placid but can get very excited too. She love's to chase ball and play she love's her walks and only pulls for a few minute's then settles she would make a really great family dog on her own or with other dogs she's not pushed. She is now totally house trained she is just the best allround doggie i have met she is brilliant with other dogs, kids and is great in the house. She loves to fetch ball and swim. He was found with no collar wandering around a church car park on his own, had been there for a few days. Not sure if he has been neutered. His tail has been cut. He is small/medium dog. He is already up on the ISPCA website in the lost and found section, if no one can take him, they will take him in approx 5-6 weeks as they are already full with dogs looking for homes at the moment. Taffy (Kefcar Ranger) Taffy is a lovely cuddly brindle greyhound with an old mans' grey face. 7 years of age, Taffy is used to a house, since he has been living with his owners all through his racing career and since retiring. They are reluctantly parting with this lovely old boy only because they couldn't give him the time they felt he needed. Louie Louie is a male, Bull Mastiff cross and he is 3 years old. He is a very big lad but has a very good temperament. He is good with adults, kids and other dogs but does not like cats. He is neutered and will be fully vaccinated. Louie has always been an outdoor dog, so is not housetrained. He pulls on the lead, so will need some lead training. He is looking for a new home where he'll have lots of space to play and a new owner who will be willing and able to do some basic training with him. Rocco Rocco is a wonderful, handsome dog, who is looking for a new home where he would have company during the day. He is a large male, Doberman/Lab x, about 18 months old and is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He is great with people, including children, other dogs and even cats! He loves to run and play, loves his walks but most of all loves company more than anything. He is housetrained, good in the car and will make a brilliant pet and companion for someone. Rocco was originally found as a stray in May 2007 and went to a new home in Sept. 2007. His new owners did great work with him, including obedience training and loved him dearly but Rocco displayed separation anxiety while they were at work everyday, so unfortunately and reluctantly they had to give him back to Drogheda Animal Rescue. So Rocco's main requirement of a new home is that he has company for most of the day, and in return, he will be a wonderful pet and companion. Jasmine Jasmine is 2 year old, neutered female German Shepherd/Collie crossbreed . She was surrendered into the care of DAR because her owner was not allowed to keep her in rented accommodation. Jasmine is very nervous of most strangers, especially men, due to an incident when she was 3 months old, where she was beaten by burglars who broke into her home. As a result of this traumatic experience, Jasmine prefers women and would be happiest homed to a woman owner. Jasmine is very affectionate with those she trusts, loves to play games, and enjoys her walks. She is very obedient and travels very well in the car. She is a large dog and requires an owner with big dog experience and someone willing to do some socialisation with her, so that she can slowly learn that in most normal situations, there is nothing to be frightened of. Jasmine has never lived with children, so a home without children would be best. Jasmine is a very beautiful dog and deserves a chance for a happy life. She is now with my elderly Dad but he cannot look after her for much longer. She can be sensitive and nervous. She does not like too many people at once and especially dislikes a lot of men. She will either bark at them or cower and shake uncontrollably. Yet there are some men she does not object to and we don’t know why she does this. I assume it is because she was abused as a puppy. We got her from the pound when she was about 1 year old. They said they thought she’d been abused. As she grew up in a family home she must be part of a family. She simply isn’t one of those dogs that is happy outside and entertains themselves. I have attached a picture of her taken about 2 years ago. This picture featured on Martin King’s weather programme on TV3 a couple of years ago and was published in his book last year. She loves to play fetch. She is fantastic with children and loves them very much. She is very gentle with them and loves to play “hide the stick”. You throw the stick and then she runs and gets it, then she hides it and you have to find it! It’s her favourite game. She can also play football. She pushes the ball with her nose. You can kick it and she’ll chase it and then she’ll push it around until you come and tackle her for it. That is if she doesn’t decide to change the game and hide it from you under a bush! She had all her vaccinations and she is spayed also. She is a little old now at 12 and is a bit slower than before. She gets quite a bit stiff after exercise. She doesn’t know she’s old and she plays and runs as she always did and then gets very tired and stiff. Murph Murph was found as a stray in the Rosnaree area, Co. Meath in early February 2008. He was dirty and tired and hungry. He had obviously been on the loose for a while. Poor Murph was happy to be taken in by a member of the public and given some food and a warm, safe place to sleep. Although he didn't ask for it, he also got a bath a few days later as well! Murph was not wearing a collar and is not microchipped. As no owners have come forward for him, Murph is now looking for a new home asap. Murph would seem to be a Kerry Blue cross. His coat is more wire-haired than curly and he has some white on his chest, so perhaps a bit of Collie in there somewhere too. He is only about 6 mths old but his time on the street has made him look older. One thing is definite - Murph does NOT like cats! No way, no how. So a cat-free home please. Murph is now fully vaccinated and neutered. Fred Fred the Greyhound was found in November 2007 at McDonald's fast food restaurant in Drogheda, Co Louth. He is a large, male Greyhound, approximately 2-years old, and was not wearing a collar and is not microchipped. Fred is mainly black with white on his chest and toes. He was hungry and very thin when found and had a lot of cuts and bruises on his body, as well as fleas and lice. However, he is coming along nicely and is getting used to regular meals and a bit of love and attention. Fred gets along well with other dogs and loves their companionship. Fred would not be suitable around cats. He has been neutered and fully vaccinated. Fred is now looking for a new home where he will be given the love and attention he deserves. Willow Willow is a male Greyhound with a black and white coat. He had been spotted on the loose in the Tullyallen, Co Louth area for about a month before he was caught and taken into the care of Drogheda Animal Rescue. Willow is approximately 2-years of age. Elsa Elsa is a female Boxer and she is 7 years old. She is being rehomed because her owners no longer have the time to give Elsa the exercise and attention she needs. Sally Sally is a lovely, female Belgian Shepherd, 4.5 years old, that is looking for a new home asap. She was surrendered by her owner because his property was not enclosed and Sally was worrying neighbouring sheep. She is a large dog, friendly, good with kids, good with other dogs, good in the car and has the potential to be a wonderful pet for someone.
