Cottage Rescue is a small animal rescue based in Longfield, Cashel, Co Tipperary that prides itself on being a safe haven for any animal that is needing help in finding it's new forever' home. The Rescue takes in dogs, cats, goats, horses, ponies and small animals as well. We work closely with the local Garda, Media and Veterinary Hospitals which makes all our job much easier.
The founder of the rescue, Hannah Fitzgerald, has devoted the past 10 years of her life to animal welfare. Another very active member is Kelly Quinn who moved to Ireland from America, has over 10 years experience as a Veterinary Nurse. The rescue is run completely by our volunteers and these volunteers often put the needs of the animals before their own. Cottage Rescue is a charitable organisation and is able to do it's good work only by the kind donations of the public. We have many bills with the veterinary care, Vaccinations, Neutering/Spaying, Worming and Feeding of the animals in our care.
Cottage Rescue works in a home environment, with specially built kennels and runs to house the rescue animals in. They are also brought into our homes to be properly assessed so that they can be re-homed more successfully. We work closely with our adopters by doing home-checks to find out just what they are looking for in their new animal. We are then able to match the new adopter with the animal that will best suit their home and family life.
A small adoption fee is required to help cover the costs of vaccinations and medical treatment the animal has received before going into it's new home.
Cottage Rescue also deals with animal neglect and works closely with the I.S.P.C.A doing cruelty checks. We often take in dogs and horses from desperate situations that require extensive medical care before they can be rehomed. We have two cases of cruelty coming up in court soon!
The aim of Cottage Rescue is the prevention of cruelty to animals, the promotion of animal welfare, and the rescue and re-homing of unwanted or stray domestic animals. We also work closely with the public through education, helping to Neuter/Spay as we feel this is the best way to prevent unwanted Puppies and Kittens.
Our Rescue is continuing to grow and as it is we are constantly looking for more ways to raise funds to help us continue caring for the animals.
Anyone interested in rehoming an animal, or needing information, can contact us we are always happy to answer any questions. Please do understand that the Rescue is run by a limited number of volunteers and we are often kept busy dealing with the rescue that it is impossible to answer the phone each time it rings and that we can only return emergency calls, we do our best to keep up with the phone calls but sometimes might be in the middle of caring for the animals or transporting when a phone call arrives. We appreciate your understanding and patience when calling.
There are many ways to help Cottage Rescue. If you don't have the time to volunteer you can also help by making donations of food, or other animal related items. Of course donations of money always help for the continuous care of the animals we take in. We can also mail out forms to set up standing orders for those wishing to make a monthly donation to Cottage Rescue. Please contact Hannah & Kelly: 087-970 1919
