Border Collies/Sheepdogs -

Unfortunately, not only adult dogs are faced with the problem of homelessness and destruction, but more and more puppies find their way to us, too.

Irresponsible dog ownership, such as refusal to spay or neuter their dog or bitch results in an overflow of pupppies. Cute they may be, but they will grow into lively and intelligent dogs who are entitled to decent treatment and a good life - but that most of them don't. Ireland's human population is not very big. 3.5 million people, compared to 60 million in the UK or 88 million in Germany alone!

There are simply not enough good homes for Collie dogs and their puppies in Ireland

Spaying and neutering can save unnecessary suffering and killing of puppies just like the ones in the photograph. Suffering - when no one treats them properly; when they are not fed and not properly housed, not trained and never get to see a vet. Killing - if no homes can be found for them. Or when the sweet little puppies grow into boisterous young adults - and no one has taken the time to work with them.
